Author’s Notes…
This moved fast. I keep thinking I’m missing something, but then I go back through and listen to it and i’m not.
i hope I’m not.

today I wanted to show off my word count for the start of the month. This is from 2/3/2026.
Pretty proud of myself. don’t know why I’ve never just jumped into stories like this before. I feel so freeing and I’ve always been scared to do two stories at once, but I’m trying to do it and it feels hard but it’s rewarding.
We’ll see you Thursday. Thanks guys for tuning in.
Enjoy. Happy Reading. Your author, Sylvia Hubbard

Chapter 32 – Facing Desire and Betrayal
Magnum’s fingers easily slipped down into her panties, and his thick fingers moved up and down on both sides of her lower lips. After several repeats of this action, he pressed firmly all over her vulva, rippling pleasurable heat swirling through her lower body.
From Lucas’s perspective, it looked as if Magnum was merely staring at her, obsessing over her. While she looked straight ahead, staring intently at the windshield as if she were trying to help him drive, she would occasionally shudder just a little, her lips pressed together, taking slow, deep breaths.
Placing her hand on his thigh, she squeezed, feeling her desire intensify in her grip, as it built higher and higher. Finally, when he plunged his finger deep into her, she couldn’t stop herself, burying her face in his chest and stifling a whimper.
Relaxing and easing into the pulsations riveting through her only increased the intensity of the orgasm pounding her body like a boulder knocking down a ravine.
And when he moved his fingers out, she watched as he slipped them in his mouth, sucking on them like they were an elixir to life. He lifted her chin and then kissed her. She loved the taste of her all over his lips and tongue, melding in her as her arousal was starting up again. In that moment, tasting herself on him, she felt a new surge of empowerment. It was as if she were reclaiming parts of herself, each kiss building her confidence and connection to her own desires.
Lucas cleared his throat. “We’re here,” he announced and got out of the vehicle to come around to the passenger side.
“I think we arrived already,” she teased, fixing her dress, knowing she was going to either need to remove her underwear or find new underwear somewhere. The ones she was wearing now were soaked with her arousal.
Magnum assisted her and escorted her out. With his keycard, he bypassed security and rode the private elevators. Unfortunately, other people were getting in there too, but that didn’t stop him from rubbing himself on the back of her right between her rear cheeks and keeping her well sexually titillated.
He leaned down and whispered to her, “I want those panties later.”
The muscles on the back of her thighs quivered, and she was glad he was letting her lean against him because those words weakened her on a soul level.
By the time they were exiting from the elevator onto the lawyer’s floor, Zuri’s body was in a tizzy, and she just wanted to get back to Magnum’s place, take his clothes off, and lick every delicious place on his body.
Tyler Black was standing behind his deck, talking on his phone, quietly keeping his voice low, with his back to them as they entered. Magnum led her to the chairs near the desk to sit, but only stood behind her slightly out of her peripheral.
The lawyer got off the phone and turned to them. “There’s an update. An unknown tip led the police to the hotel, but by the time they arrived, she was gone. However,” Tyler paused as if weighing his words carefully before adding, “they are on her trail. I did ask for double security at the hospital over Rodney’s unconscious body, but there’s no guarantee they won’t mess that up.”
“Rodney’s unconscious?” Zuri asked, her voice filled with surprise.
Tyler looked at Magnum with a knowing glint. “Guess you didn’t tell her what you did to him?” A salacious grin spread over the lawyer’s lips like a reward as he said to Zuri, “I gave them your statement about what Rodney did to you prior to his arrival. Seems your man lost his temper just a little protecting you, but the police chalked it up as self-defense.”
Zuri glanced over at Magnum, a wave of conflicting emotions tightening her throat. Her heart drummed a quick, erratic rhythm as she saw him glare at the lawyer, clearly contemplating actions he might take. Keeping her composure despite the tempest within, she said, “What can I do?”
“Get out of town until this is over. Stay in a safe hotel on the other side of the country-“
“No,” Magnum refuted.
“This isn’t about you, crazy,” Tyler persisted, taking a step closer.
Magnum stepped forward to accept the challenge, refusing to let this lawyer shift the power dynamic in the room. “You’re right, lawyer. This is about you trying to break the contract.”
Tyler leaned over, scrutinizing Zuri closely. His presence felt heavier, almost oppressive, as he moved around the desk and drew nearer to her. “No, this is about her safety. I’m sure those bruises on her neck were part of lovemaking?”
Zuri pulled her collar up. Maybe the fray in the car shifted her clothes around.
She wasn’t sure if the bruises were from Magnum’s or FT’s roughhandling of her, but she couldn’t care less. “I’m not under any harm by Magnum.”
“Really?” Tyler said, filled with disbelief. “This crazy asshole just wants to shove his fists into things.”
He stepped up to the lawyer, tightening his fists. “I’d gladly shove my fist up yours, lawyer. You suggest she go out of town to get away from you again, and I’ll not only sue the shit out of you, but I’ll pummel you to the ground until they can’t recognize your face.”
Zuri stood up and got between them. “Magnum, can you wait in the car for me and just send Lucas up to wait in the lobby?”
He glared at the lawyer for a moment longer and then kissed her forehead before he huffed out the privacy door, his body radiating anger. And she watched him until Magnum was gone, very much turned on, wanting to help him get rid of that rage running through his veins.
“Zuri, we need to focus on what’s important,” Tyler said.
Turning to the lawyer, she folded her arms across her chest. “What’s important is I get my father’s work done, and I help others in the field, and whoever needs the chemical I’m trying to create. Staying with Magnum is better. I’m close to the lab and-“
He cut her off with a snarl, “You have your lover.”
Angrily, she demanded, “Why did you invite him to come with me if you were just going to piss him off?”
“Because I wanted him to know that I know he’s a killer and he doesn’t give a fuck about the damage he’s done to everyone around him. No feelings for him will ever change who he is. He likes to hit things and people. You needed to see how quickly his anger comes to light.”
“We made the contract, and he’ll sue you if I break it. And you’re right, I don’t want to leave.”
“You didn’t see Rodney. That man won’t be able to talk straight for decades or see clearly for the rest of his life. That man is dangerous, and I’m only worried he’s going to hurt you next.”
Remembering how Magnum said FT always took the brunt of accusations, she still refused to believe Magnum would hurt her. The heat in her chest warmed through her veins, and she was absolute in her decision to stick by him. Her loyalty wasn’t unquestioning; it was forged in moments of vulnerability shared, in the quiet strength he offered. “I completely understand, but you don’t know him as I do. Lucas can protect me if I need me, but I know what’s best for me, and right now, Magnum is best for me.” She spoke this with such confidence and knew, at the bottom of her heart, that it was the truest statement she had ever made. Gathering her items, she started to leave out the front of his office. “Once the supplies get to the lab, and the assistant and I set everything up, I’ll let you know a timeline on everything we can bank our investors on.”
“You won’t be able to tell me I was right,” Tyler said as she was going out the door.
She paused and looked back at him. “Why?”
“Because you’ll be dead.”
The room fell silent. The weight of Tyler’s words lingered in the air, pressing down on Zuri with a force that seemed to echo in the depths of her mind. She felt a chill creeping under her skin, the unspoken threat hanging over her like a dark cloud.
Immediately leaving after those cold words from her lawyer without saying anything was the only thing Zuri could do. His words were brushed aside. She wasn’t going to go back and forth about Magnum’s character when she had gotten so close to this man – closer than probably anyone else, even his brother.
The least of her worries was Magnum. Getting to the lobby, she didn’t see Lucas, so she assumed he was still in the car. Perhaps Magnum went up to his office to drop that work off before he returned to the car.
The receptionist at the lobby was forwarding a call to Tyler. “Mr. Black, it’s the police from the hospital. They need to speak to you.”
Zuri gritted her teeth. Were they calling to tell her Rodney was dead? That thought didn’t bother her after what he had done. He never really brought her joy. She had just not wanted to be lonely, and he was a balm until she figured out the next step in her life.
Now she knew where she wanted to go and who she wanted to be with, and no one was going to keep her from those goals. Magnum and her father’s research. She would focus on them.
She put her coat on and headed to the elevator, filled with thoughts about everything. The lab, the feelings with Magnum, Rodney tore up from the floor up, and then Brenda, the mother, who wanted to hurt her.
Eager to get into the Magnum’s arms again, seeing a figure in the back seat of the car, she briefly passed Lucas, holding the door open for her, and jumped inside.
The door slammed and locked behind her the moment she realized it wasn’t Magnum in the back seat. Lucas was passed out, leaning against the opposite door, blood coming down the side of his head.
Panicking, she looked up in front to see Brenda in the passenger seat with a pleasurable snarl on her lips, pointing a gun at Zuri, while Rodney was limping to get into the driver’s seat.
Zuri screamed and tried to get out of the car, but that was futile as the car started to drive away.
Brenda’s voice was cold and sharp. “The formula. All the money. The jewelry. It all belongs to me, you stupid, worthless brat,” she spat. “You’ll give it all to me or never see another day, Zuri.”
