Writing Wednesday: Just Write and Write and Write

Today’s Writing Wednesday is brought to us today by a reader/writer who wrote me a note and I just had to share it with you. I loved the note and I loved the questions. So if you want to ask me one, just hit the contact button at the end of this post.

Btw, Diamond in the Rough is a free Heart of Detroit book that you can check out below in all formats! I’ll make it also for FREE FRIDAYS this week too!

Hello, Ms. Hubbard ….. im a 19 year old young lady from…  , Michigan. the first book of yours i read was the Diamond in the rough book and i have to say it was amazing and am going to get more of your books… also i have started a book of my own,i started in 2008 or 2009 i dont have a title for it yet and i’m only on the 11th or 12th chapter. I’m not really sure if i want to finish because my vocabulary is far from good and i know you have to be a wordy person to write books which you are but if you like i could send you a copy of what i have so far and you could tell me rather or not it will be good. Thanks for your time, talk to you soon !!

AUTHOR’S RESPONSE

I really don’t like to read unsolicited material due to the fact that some writer back in 2006, when I wasn’t even established yet, accused me of stealing a story idea (Stone’s Revenge) although I completed that book back in 1990.

I will suggest though two things

1) Just write and stop worrying about the way you write.

2) Join a writing group in your area and your genre

We can always talk about story concepts and so forth. I hope to have a Michigan Literary Online Discussion Group going up in the next couple of months so I hope you join and we can talk there

MORE NOTES/COMMENTS ON THIS:

We make more problems for ourselves concentrating on the things we can’t do instead of concentrating on the things we can do.

I learned in life from Nike (from just living and everything), JUST DO IT. I love make liars out of people, but most of all, I love making a liar out of myself.

The moment the negative word can’t happens in my life, my resistance and stubbornness kick in and then I just go for it.

The greatest advice my mother ever told me was to just ask questions becasue the worse thing they can say is no and when they do, just come back later.

In order to live life to the fullest and live the dreams we always want, on a daily basis challenge yourself, do your best and JUST DO IT!

FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT: DIAMOND IN THE ROUGH

Author’s Notes: I wrote this book in less than a month or so. I don’t know how I did it but the story happened so darn quickly and I couldn’t write fast enough for my brain. (I still can’t). Enjoy the FREEBIE!
