Chapter update: 06/11/2024

What happened in this chapter:(stop if you haven’t read it yet; spoilers might be mentioned)

Adira maintained a general conversation during dinner as Ryleigh’s skills and client list came to light. Everett remained moody and silent, but this did not faze Ryleigh, who continued politely. Post-dinner, Maddox and Adira went to the library for dessert and coffee, where Ryleigh shared that Derek has suspicions about Adira’s motives. Despite Adira’s assurances that she has no intentions of harming her husband Maddox, Ryleigh reveals that Derek and Dag are wary of her influence.

Adira started to ponder Derek’s true intentions and speculated about his protectiveness over Maddox. She promised to fight for her son once temporary guardianship ended and showed gratitude toward Ryleigh for her honesty. Maddox then mentioned a late appointment, after which Adira left for a thoughtful ride to the hotel.

At the hotel, Adira encountered Redd, a woman with a history linked to Maddox and Derek. A tense conversation ensued, with Redd warning Adira against hurting Derek and questioning Adira’s true intentions and relationships. Adira maintained her composure, insisting that her connection with Derek was purely due to her marriage to Maddox. The encounter ended with Redd’s harsh words inferring that Adira and Maddox were still not good enough compared to Derek’s late fiancée Nikki.

LivingWriter.com Rewrite suggestion

Enhance character development by incorporating more inner thoughts and emotional reactions to increase depth and reader connection. (After this suggestion, I did add a sentence describing their intensity for the night to come prior to her leaving for the hotel.)

AUTHOR’S NOTE:

As we get closer to the big night – and I swear I’m not trying to keep you from it, there’s a lot that has to happen before we can just jump in the bed. A lot of things that need addressing and I want her going in with her eyes WIDE open because in most cases when I write, it’s about the woman but this one I’ve made it about the bromance between Maddox and Derek. We need to repair that from the get-go because after this what they will have to go through will test that more than anything. I know that feels different from what you’ve seen but it’s different from what I’ve written.

To know Redd and her background, you will have to go to Delilah’s Desire. She’s for the family and has always had a jones for Derek. I couldn’t let that slip past Adira but I needed this confrontation to show how Adira was just as confident about her men just as Maddox is confident about Adira’s devotion to him.

And if you’re wondering who I’ll tie Redd to, then I’ve given you hints in past episodes and the last book she was in. It should be easy. She loves a chase and who she will be tied to clashes with her, of course, but checks all her freaky boxes.

Answers to Frequent Questions

I’m working in LivingWriter.com on the story. I’m trying to move away from Google docs.

I like adding my author’s notes (keep track of what I say and offer more words without worrying about a word count like when I type it fresh in the Kindle Vella platform.

I’m also using storyoriginapp.com to keep up with my word count and offer beta copies behind a paywall for my premium and alpha readers. This is fun and exciting. Maybe I’ll offer it over on my site in a full book later. We’ll see how the turnout comes.

I’m using my blog to track my writer’s thoughts. I can’t share the deep ones in the Author’s Notes; only real writers can understand.

So I did use ChatGPT to help me outline after giving it a detailed synopsis (about a page long), but I’m finding myself moving a lot of things around at least having an outline to remember a lot of the things I’d have to come back and add.

It’s my first time using ChatGPT on a live book, and I hope this will help this paper write a lot faster so I can give my readers the chapters.

Moving things around meaning, a lot of the things ChatGPT told me to write in Chapters 3 and 4 I managed to manipulate in Chapter 1, and then in Chapter 4, I’m pulling from Chapters 5 and six, so I’m a little ahead of the game, but I’m still following The Save the Cat method in my telling of the story.

Having the outline makes me write more because I know where I’m going, and I can map out in my head better how to get to scenes faster and not be so wordy.

I use Grammarly, which works well in Livingwriter and then I’ll post it in my Kindle Vella, check the grammar some more, read it out loud, and then if I’m satisfied, I’ll post it.
