So the incident in the last post with the new PO beau happened last Sunday. I didn’t hear from him for a couple of days and then he texted Tuesday his phone had dropped in water and he’d been out of commission until he got a replacement.
I’m not a person who goes crazy when people don’t call me. Hell, I went two weeks one time with a beau and we were so busy we only kept in touch through text messages. That was my longest relationship to date and we’re still good friends after we broke up.
anyhoo, since we hadn’t seen each other in a moment, he said we needed to “Talk.”
That was the talk I was referring to earlier, but this wasn’t the night we talked. I invited him over and he gave me a bear hug. Then another hug. Then another hug, then we started kissing.
Next thing I know I’m laying on my couch and this big hunk of man is laying on top of me.
First I’d like to point out I’m a nice size fourteen – sixteen when aunt dottie moves in – I weight about a good hundred and fifty – plus some.
THE MAN LIFTED ME!
We were like teenagers trying not to wake the kids, but he finally stopped up when he knew we were about to go too far.
I didn’t know whether I was coming or going and glad he stopped.
He looked a little panicked at this moment and said we had to talk.
But since he was too aroused, we couldn’t talk now.
We ended up talking the next day and more or less, it turned out he is ending a “situation” and he would like me to understand what happened that other day cannot happen again until he is completely out. Nor will it go any further.
He just wants to be friends.
I’ll keep you guys abreast if anything else happens, but what do you guys think?
“The break in to your home after your mother’s death wasn’t random. Your father’s original will is still in the house along with your father’s things and if your brother finds it, he could get a lawyer to dispute the new will. These are just my opinions, but I think if he can’t find the will, he’s going to find another way to get to that money. Either way it still means you need to be out of his way completely.”
“Vick would never hurt me enough to kill me.”
“Do you really believe those words or are you trying to convince yourself as we speak?”
She wanted to believe Vick wouldn’t go so far as to kill her, but her gut told her differently. “I haven’t found any of my father’s things in the house. I’ve redone the house completely and I haven’t found anything that was of my father’s. My mother made sure of that.”
“Of course you haven’t. Otherwise you’d have known about the trust and the money,” he said. “That’s how I know you are truly honest and you are the perfect person to help me.”
Frustrated, she asked, “How could I help you?”
“By marrying me. I need to make sure my money goes to someone other than my ex wife and you need to protect your father’s inheritance from your brother.”
“If my brother wants the money that bad, he can have it.” Anything to get her brother to not bother her; or worse, kill her!
“If your father didn’t want your brother or mother to have it, don’t you think he had a good excuse?” Sloan questioned. “If there is a chance to help him, don’t you think you should do what you can?”
Sighing in worry, she said, “Mrrying you would be suspicious to your family wouldn’t it? They’d contest the marriage.”
“Not if they aren’t aware of it and we can equate it to a whirlwind love because of how well you took care of me.” He winked.
She blushed feeling his teasing. “Sloan, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I wouldn’t know what to do with your money or your estate.”
“I’d make sure you have a great attorney to help you out in that matter. I’m an old man. I don’t expect much from a wife. If I do get well, we could move into my home and live out the rest of my days quietly,” he insisted. “You’ll be well taken care of and won’t have to worry about taking care of me. I’ll get a private nurse and you’re free to do what you want. After all this time, an arrange marriage will actually be good for me because every time I’ve looked for love, I ended up with nothing. It would be nice to at least have someone who cared a little about me.”
He was teasing again and she could see it in his exquisite eyes. If he was younger, she might see herself falling for him and being confused about her attraction to Pholsom Todd.
“So what do you say, Elena?”
First, the decision about the job by Pholsom Todd and now proposal to get married; in a twenty four hour period, she was making more decisions for her future than she ever had in her entire life.
What’s a girl to do?
Subconsciously she realized she was pacing again. The stress surrounding everything that was going on in her head, was making the lurching in her chest become harder.
“But you don’t even know me,” she said. “I don’t know you.”
“We know enough about each other that we have no one else to trust.”
He was right. Even if she went to Chance or Pholsom about marrying her they’d think she was crazy and her gut feeling about Vick hurting her was absurd. She’d never filed a report about anything and had alerted no one about Vick’s treatment of her. Vick had made sure of that and was probably betting on that when she came up missing. No one would point the finger at him and he’d get away with murder.
Elena went over to the bed and took his hand. Sitting on the bed next to him, she watched as he lifted her hand to his lips.
“You won’t regret this,” he promised. “We’ll keep each other safe.”
She had a feeling they would, but would Pholsom Todd understand? “What about relations I’m currently in, Sloan?”
“I don’t know. I mean, it just started.”
He smiled in understanding. “Since I’m unable to perform anymore, I could understand a discreet relationship.”
Was this a blessing in disguise?
“And the stuff about my father? How can I prove that?” she asked, but added quickly, “Not that I’m trying to say you’d like or deceive me.”
“Of course you have a right to know and see that information,” he agreed. “When I call my lawyer over to help with the paperwork, I could have him bring the information we found out together. He has all that with him, but I didn’t want him to come over for just one trip.” There was a mischievous twinkle in his eye and why did that remind her so much of Pholsom Todd?
Getting off the bed as goose bumps suddenly came all down her arms, she rubbed them away and started to pace.
“Will you be well enough to help me handle your ex-wife?”
“I’ll never be well enough to handle her,” he said with a snort. “But once you agree I know someone who can help you handle her.”
“Who?” she inquired.
“My son,” he said obviously.
The room began to spin.
