Hey SneakReader,
Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom — and this June, I want to talk about what we do with ours.
We read what we want. We love who we want. We tell stories that mainstream publishing told us didn’t belong — and then we built our own tables and told them anyway.
I’ve been telling Black love stories — complicated, dangerous, deeply human Black love stories — since 2000. Out of Detroit. Independently. On my own terms. For readers who deserve to see themselves at the center of dark romance and high suspense, not on the edges of someone else’s narrative.
That’s what #SylLit has always been.
This Juneteenth, I’m inviting you to celebrate your freedom the way I know best — with a book that is unapologetically Black, unapologetically complex, and unapologetically real about what love costs and what desire feels like when it doesn’t have a clean answer.
65+ books. Detroit-made. Reader-crowned.
Your freedom includes this. 👑
