My book Her Substitute Husband.. His Brothers Book 2 ebook was released on May 3rd.
The Paperback was supposed to be released as well, but it wasn’t.
Because Amazon kept saying the publisher’s information didn’t align with the book information.
- I knew it wasn’t a design problem because it was the same designer I used for book one.
- I copied straight from Bowker to my KDP dashboard. No change.
- Yet, I felt it was user error. Me! Something I was doing wrong was maybe being too close to the project, and I couldn’t see the problem.
I tried about five times. And I kept getting the same error.
I was upset, disappointed. Wondering what the heck I do. I got one paperback copy of book 1, but now book 2 can’t be handled.
I’m a problem solver.
I will run this over and over in my head until it’s solved.
It took me four days to make a long list of ways to solve this problem.
- go to the help desk
- call if that doesn’t work
- move both books to Draft2Digital
- call again if that doesn’t work
- pay someone to do it, but it will take longer to get the book
- just don’t publish either paperback & move on to the next project – Desire’s Tryst.
Either one was either time or money, except for the last option, where I go nuclear.
Once I had everything in mind, I woke up this morning (May 7th) feeling like I had enough opitons that if they all didn’t work out, I was going to clear my head of the issue, apologize to people who had gotten the first paperback and would only be able to get the ebook for the second paperback, and just move on until I could do something more.
I started typing my help desk file. Got the ASIN and then went to Bowker to get my ISBN.
Then I paused….
Something in the back of my mind said, Try it one more time.
It was my troubleshooting voice. The one I use when I’m on the phone at my benefit job, and I add to the customer who I know doesn’t want to try again: Just humor me.
And then I could also take screenshots of the error for proof that I’m not wrong.
No errors.
Everything was uploaded, and I was able to get the preview file.
I think I cried, screamed, and other bodily functions happened all at once. I’m not sure.
But it’s there. Uploaded and finished.
Sigh.
Book two, paperback, wasn’t ready when book two, ebook, was published, but it’s ready now.
