😈Unpopular Opinion: Serial fiction is the most honest way to write romance — and the industry is afraid of it. #syllit #hubbooks

In my new series running into October, I am discussing unpopular opinions I’ve had about my literary life.

I’ve made them into 3rd person, because I felt perhaps this is a lot of general opinions other than just mine. I like to say the things other people are afraid to speak about but these are opinions I’ve had.

Let me know what you feel about it.

Every publishing model pushes authors toward complete, standalone, neatly packaged books because that’s what the distribution system was built for. But serial fiction — the way Sylvia has always written, chapter by chapter, reader by reader — is how romance actually lives in people. It creates the deepest reader loyalty in the genre because readers invest over time, not in a single weekend. The industry calls it a niche. Sylvia calls it the original model. Dickens serialized. Soap operas serialized. The Cliffhanger Queen serialized. The format isn’t the problem. The gatekeepers just can’t monetize what they can’t control.
