In my new series going into October, I want to discuss unpopular opinions I’ve had about my literary life.
I’ve made them into 3rd person, because I felt perhaps this is a lot of general opinions other than just mine. I like to say the things other people are afraid to speak about but these are opinions I’ve had.
Let me know what you feel about it.
The whole genre has been tiptoeing around trigger warnings and sensitivity readers trying to soften the very thing that makes dark romance powerful — the discomfort. Sylvia’s unpopular opinion: if you need a 47-point content warning before you can read a book, maybe dark romance isn’t your genre. Real darkness isn’t comfortable. That’s the point. Readers who are right for her work don’t need a warning. They need a good opening line.
