AUTHOR’S NOTE: So this seems out of sequence, and I moved this around from 61 to 60 because… well, 1) this chapter wasn’t long enough & 2) I thought to prepare you for the bombshell that was coming before Iris saw it. And I wanted to explain what she saw in the bathroom’s trash can.

I mean, I know you already knew, but I bet you were wondering how it got there.

So I jumped in El’s head and gave you insight into what was going on with him.

You’ll also meet another fun member of the Bellini Family. I feel good about bringing them to fruition because now that I’m done with the Black Family, I can fully concentrate on them and bring them to life.

And yes, I’m giving you an extra extra chapter this week.

Enjoy reading, your author, Sylvia Hubbard

El panicked when he woke up that morning, not seeing Iris, but then he heard her voice through the door. Pressing his ear to the wall, he determined she was speaking to her aunt and decided not to interrupt her. He casually moved his hand down in the pocket of his pajamas and felt the small plastic toothpick-like device.
When he returned to the bed to nuzzle with her, El briefly checked his emails and saw that the Charlotte Management company had sent approval on the property and provision list. “All arrangements can be completed as requested by this weekend if you can pay the full amount.”
The invoice contained a considerable chunk of change. Much of his money was tied up in other ventures, and since the Wexford deal was still tied up, he was slightly in the red.
He didn’t care that he had to move money from the company’s account to make this Charlotte deal happen. Whatever it took to give Iris safety and security felt more important than anything. After all this mess with the charges, he’d find a way to make things right financially with the company by next week because money was the last thing on his mind. He’d always found ways to make life work for him by himself.
His focus now was to make life work for Iris, who’d always been given the short end of the stick. If putting his company in the red for a week just for her meant making the sacrifice, he was willing to make it.
His phone chirped, prompting him to go to bed and see who was bothering him so early in the morning when he had a crucial meeting to attend.
“Call me now,” Tyler’s text read.
Going into the bathroom for privacy, as soon as the lawyer picked up, he said, “If this is about the charges and they need me to turn myself in-“
“The charges are dropped,” Tyler cut him off. “But your sister has moved to take over your company. Check your phone to see the paperwork her lawyer sent over.”
El put the lawyer on speaker and scrolled through his email to download the documents Tyler had sent over.
“She’s lost her ever fucking mind.”
“They’re betting you aren’t getting the Bellini deal, and you’ve got too much wrapped up in the Wexford deal that the company could go under. She’s using this opportunity to swoop and retake the company.”
“Most likely, this is all Wexford’s doing,” he seethed. “Son of a bitch! Fuck her! She’s been holding this back since she thinks I fucking left her when I was sentenced. Fuck! How deluded could she be? Ernest and Russell are using her to get to me.”
“I don’t think she cares. She’ll do whatever they want if they keep flashing money in her face. Your tough love approach for her the get her life together obviously only worked against you, and this is her way of saying fuck you back, El.”
El cursed violently, angry at himself for not preparing for his sister’s stupidity. “What can I do?”
“That contract is written in stone. I did that myself, and at the time, you felt you’d never fail. If Ola pulled the company’s records now, it would look like it’s failing, and the entire company would go to her. You set this like this so she could sign everything to her without qualms because you felt you would never fail, El.”
“I could punch her in the face right now,” El hissed. “I will not let Wexford get my company, Tyler. I’ll shoot him dead between the eyes before I let that happen.”
“I’m going to pretend I didn’t hear that in case some harm does come to the man, “Tyler said. “But you don’t pay me the bucket of money for nothing, El. Remember you said I could put in at least one provision in case you did fail, but you didn’t care what I put in because you were arrogant enough to believe you wouldn’t.”
“If she gives me a week, all this shit will be blown over like a bad memory.”
“Wexford most likely knows that which is why he’s jumping on this while the metal is hot.”
El quickly resolved that he would have no choice in the matter. At this point, he was willing to do anything to prevent Wexford from getting his company and not seeing that triumphant smile on Ernest’s face. “What is the damn provision, Tyler?”
“Marriage. I don’t know why I put that in there, but I decided to put something in there because I want my clients to have a backup plan. I knew it had to be something your sister would know would never happen for you because of your condition.”
Tyler continued to explain his actions, but El’s mind was a million miles away. His hand went down into his pajama pocket, and he pulled out the device he knew had come from Iris. She had barely noticed it had a loose. From his size, he remembered some women saying he had knocked things around in them, but he’d never gone to the hilt until… Iris.
Fuck! Just thinking about filling her sweetness up with his hips pressing against her made his shaft stiffen.
El tossed the IUD in the trash can, took a deep breath, and cut Tyler off from whatever the man said, “Set it up. Before we get back to Detroit, I need to marry her.”
Between the meeting with Alejandro Bellini and returning to Detroit, El would convince her to marry him. Dread filled him because he would hate him more once she discovered the truth.
“How about you be truthful to her about your reasons for marrying her, El?” Tyler said, reading his thoughts.
“How about you just be my lawyer and let me figure this shit out,” El bit out.
“I’ll set it up and send you the information,” Tyler said quietly, disconnecting the call.
El knew it had been wrong to be arrogant with his lawyer, but as he realized the enormity of his situation, the pressure was coming in hard, and perhaps Tyler was right.
The truth could work this time, yet when would be a good time to ask Iris to be his wife to save his company? Before the meeting? After the meeting?
Should he drag her to the pulpit and demand she marry him?

“Hello,” a deep sultry voice said beside her.
Somehow, a gorgeous version of Alejandro Bellini, looking much leaner, four inches shorter, and a little bit older, slipped in the chair beside Iris, showing all his pearly white teeth, looking like he was about to eat the best meal. His olive green eyes danced with a splash of speckled yellow, and he smelled like a beautiful summer day.
“Renaldo Bellini,” he introduced himself with an outstretched hand.
Knowing El would know if anyone touched her, Iris shifted slightly away from him and held her messenger bag tighter to her chest like a barrier between them. “Nice to meet you,” she responded, not offering anything to make him think she wanted to keep talking.
“Obviously, you’re important if you’re sitting outside my little brother’s office.”
Chuckling she said, “Mr. Alejandro Bellini is far from little.”
Renaldo was excited he’d gotten a response from her. “You’re right, but I love saying that about him, especially since I’m the oldest.”
With her extensive research on this family, she knew exactly who Renaldo Bellini was. “I’m aware of who you are, Mr. Bellini, and I also know you’re the most irresponsible of them.”
It was his turn to chuckle, and he wasn’t the least bit embarrassed about the truth. “I wouldn’t call it irresponsible. I’m sharing my birthright with my siblings. I could be like Dalton and take over and try to do everything while wearing myself out, or I could allow my siblings to take some of the load while enjoying what life offers.” His eyes raked her over. “And you are definitely what life has given to enjoy, miss.”
Iris only gave her title. “I’m Mr. Olorun’s analyst.”
Renaldo raised a dark brown, dripping in sexual lust. “El tolerates someone near him? That’s intriguing, but I can see why. You exude beautifulness.”
Not used to compliments from someone as handsome and prestigious as this man was, she couldn’t help but blush.
At that moment, the doors to Alejandro’s office opened, and she could hear Alejandro laughing after saying, “… We’ll work out the details next week, El.”
Suddenly, El was charging at Renaldo, yanking him out of the seat by the front of his suit and shaking him before pinning him against the nearest wall. Renaldo tried to escape the steel grip but couldn’t budge El’s hands.
Her boss was ripped in anger. “You keep your motherfucking hands off my woman!”
Forgetting her professionalism, Iris jumped up and touched El’s shoulder. “Stop! Put him down!”
El looked at her sharply, but then his eyes softened. Immediately, he released Renaldo, who dropped to the ground coughing.
Iris worried El’s jealousy would cost them this deal, and it would be all her fault for letting Renaldo get too close to her. “I’m sorry,” she pleaded with him, regressing to her old self.
El gripped her shoulders tightly and looked her over as if someone had hurt her. “Shut up!”  And he drew her to him and kissed her, sucking her soul out of her body.
The whole world seemed to fade away for that quick second, and she found herself dazed for a moment.
Alejandro moved around them to reach his brother and help him stand up. Once he was assured Renaldo was okay, Alejandro slapped him on the back, knocking more air out of his lungs.
“He’s fine,” Alejandro announced.
“Wh-Why didn’t you help me?” Renaldo scolded his brother, clutching his chest. “I think he almost broke my ribcage with those damn cement hands of his. Who’s side are you on, Alejandro?”
Alejandro boomed with laughter. “Momma said I didn’t have to stop anyone from punching you in your well-deserved cute face, brother. And Dad said I could even help them if they did, but since El didn’t punch you, I’m a little disappointed in him because I would have loved to jump in and help him kick your ass.”
Iris was taken aback, and Alejandro’s mirth stumped her completely.
“Now, I don’t think El wants to attend drinks with me tonight to celebrate our deal,” Alejandro went for a moment in disappointment before he burst out in laughter again.
El only moved her to the side and continued to hold her. “I’ll consider it, but we’ll speak next week when you’re in town once all this has blown over.”
“Most definitely,” Alejandro said. “Have a very good evening, Ms. Folsom.”
Renaldo was still trying to recover to normal breathing. He was leaning against the wall, looking like he was about to pass out.
El didn’t apologize to the Cassanova but led her out of the offices and to the elevators, which opened as soon as they arrived. Iris was still in a daze about the powerful kiss he’d delivered in front of everyone, displaying how he felt about her and not caring that anyone knew. El didn’t let go of her hand until they were back in the car, only to draw her in his lap to straddle his waist.
The car was moving, but she was barely unaware of it as El indulged in kissing her longingly with so much passion, as if they hadn’t made love just last night and very early this morning.
When the car stopped, El rushed her out of the hotel and into the private elevator.
No one was there, and she thought of asking, “How did the meeting go?”
He pressed her against the wall and took over her mouth again. She forgot all about the meeting and loved how his thick tongue was almost down her throat. All her senses were going in every direction, and she barely heard the elevator stop. El was dragging her out to their hotel room, and damn if the door barely closed before he was tearing her clothes off and then his. It was to the point where she heard rips in the fabric and only giggled at his eagerness as she tried to help him, but her hands were knocked away by another rip in the clothes.
Until now, Iris had never noticed how strong he was, but she’d always seen his large hands. Dwayne’s rough treatment of her had prepared her for El’s meaty touch, hard squeezes, and overly firm body handling.
How could she complain when he followed it with kisses and licks and…
Sweet lord, he double-fingered her sweetness while carrying her through the hotel room.
They barely reached the bathroom, kissing, touching, and feeling all over each other. Iris knew he needed to wash the outside off of them and was all for it knowing when that was done, El was going to fuck her senseless, and Iris would enjoy every last minute of it.

Hours later, El had lunch delivered. The sheets on the bed were still partially damp because they hadn’t dried off well enough, too excited. He didn’t act as if he were hungry at all from the amount of honey he’d sucked from her body, but when he heard her stomach growl loud, he ordered food for them.
“Now, can I ask you how the meeting went?” she asked after stuffing a chicken salad sandwich down her throat and chomping on celery sticks.
El chuckled sensuously and lay on the bed beside her, eating a couple of carrot sticks. “You’re perfect, Iris. You know that?”
His compliment startled her, and she blushed.
“Thank you, El.”
“Marry me.”
