The depth of the hate in the Heart family goes back like A LOT OF BOOKS! So I can’t begin to tell you what everything entails unless you read it or I do a video, which I should probably do soon. Perhaps Friday to explain a little about the family tree.

Ugh… that’s gut -wrenching.

In any case, the next chapter should give you a little idea of the family feud.

This action scene was very difficult but I pushed through it. Usually I sit for a couple of weeks fighting myself but I’m glad I got this out so I could get to the next part. I’m ready to bring her back to El. I love that I’m getting good word count and not elongating things. Like the scenes are moving fast and with purpose. I’ve been fighting back and forth with Grammarly but I think I kept the voice and a clear path so you guys can understand the venomous Blaque Heart. She’s still crazy and she’s still going to complete her Daddy’s mission.

Let’s hope I can keep up the momentum.

Your author, Sylvia Hubbard

Becoming stiff like a statue, she didn’t move as Dwayne carried her, or more like dragged her to the stairwell, which had exit doors as well. When he put her down, she was still frozen in fear. She was disgusted to see his unshaven, haggard appearance as if Dwayne had aged thirty years in less than a week.
He slammed her against the nearest wall and pressed so hard on her shoulders that Iris was sure the cartilage was going to pop from her bones. His hot breath smelled like alcohol, old tobacco, and spoiled food all at once, sending as he spoke in a ragged growl. “We’re going to walk out of here and get in my car, you stupid bitch. We got your lover by the balls, and you’ll take me back to the office, get that petty cash out for me so that I can get the hell out of this damn city.” He looked around in panic as if whoever was after him was coming at that moment or would appear out of nowhere. “Pops don’t need me here no more – Only to get that money, but that money is mine.” He shook her by the shoulder. “Pops wants you for safekeeping,” Dwayne smirked, and Iris saw two of his teeth on the side were missing, and there was a barely healed cut on his life. Someone had knocked him in the face hard, and mostly, his teeth paid the price. “But that ain’t gonna happen, Iris.” Except it sounded like he said her name like ‘Eye-worst.’ “You’re comin’ with me!” he proclaimed as if he founded a new continent.
The heat of his breath almost made her pass out, but she fought the nauseousness and begged quietly, “Please don’t, Dwayne. What about Clem?” Iris needed to sympathize with him because she didn’t want to irritate him. Dwayne liked it when she pretended to be docile.
“Fuck that bastard. You’re coming with me ’cause it’s going to assure Pops to leave us alone. I fucking hate all of them!” He was trying to drag her through the exit, and she knew if he succeeded in getting her out of the door, there was no stopping him from throwing her in some trunk and driving away.
Gawd! She’d never see Clem or El again. Dwayne would hold her hostage for the rest of her life. An energy burst through every vein in her body, and she dug her heels so hard into the ground that Dwayne almost couldn’t hold her.
Maliciously, he yanked her to him, held his fist up to her face, and seethed, “Stop fighting me, bitch! You’re coming whether you like it or not, Iris.”
Iris dug her heels in harder, and the back of Dwayne’s hand made contact with her right jaw in his famously brutal slaps, which he usually dealt with to keep her in line.
Fighting him would be useless and only further injure her physically, so she resolved to fight differently. Being used to his blows, Iris was able to recover and plead. “I can’t leave Clem!” She tried to snatch her hand away, but his grip was choking the blood out of her arm until she could barely feel her fingertips.
Grabbing her shoulders, Dwayne viciously joggled her until her vision doubled as he seethed, “We gotta go, Iris. Pops won’t send King Heart goons after to hurt me as long as I got you because he won’t be assured they won’t do something to you.” Dwayne snarled at his genius thoughts. “Now, let’s go.”
Unfortunately, he thought giving her the reason he was trying to kidnap her would make her acquiesce. As if he were giving her the ticket to heaven, she was so miserable she would fall in line and go with him.
Iris winced in pain as his fingers dug into her brachium to drag her toward the exit doors.
Iris pushed away her fear and dread; she reached into her coat pocket and grabbed the knife with her free arm, ready to draw blood until the exit doors were kicked open suddenly, and a black woman dressed in a long Mackintosh dark brown leather coat and matching high heeled boots stood there with her hands on her hips smirking with a hungry look in her eyes like she was about to eat.
Dwayne just barely missed the doors slamming in his face and hissed, “Who the fuck are-“
The woman open-palmed him the nose fast, knocking Dwayne back. He didn’t let go of Iris’s arm, so she flew to the floor, almost on top of him.
Iris thrust the knife into Dwayne’s hand that gripped her arm, instantly gaining her release. He roared his displeasure and tried to reach for her.
“Sttoooopp!” he raged.
The only thought running through Iris’s head was: BLAQUE HEART! BLAQUE HEART!
As soon as she gained her release, Iris ran in the opposite direction and headed to the lobby.
Suddenly, the darkly dressed woman with slicked black hair, black eyes sharp with death, and painted brown claws as nails appeared before her. “If anyone is going to kill you, it’s going to be me, Iris Folsom.”
Iris jumped back but didn’t move fast enough for this woman. The woman’s punch to the left side of Iris’s face caught her off guard, but she was not stunned. She had expected something worse, but perhaps it was because Dwayne had prepped her for the brutality, which was her usual side. After years of taking a punch from her Dad or a hard slap from Dwayne, her jaw was numb.
Putting her hand to the side of her face and with her other hand, she pointed to Dwayne and said, “He hits harder.” Bravely, she stood defiantly akimbo, challenging the woman. “If you’re going to kill me, just do it.”
Blaque drew her fist back to hit Iris again, but the doors to the stairwell burst open, with Salacious pulling his gun already with a silencer on the tip and aiming it towards Blaque.
“Stop there, Blaque!”
The woman shoved Iris to the floor, and she was sure this time, her entire butt would be sore for a week, but she didn’t have time to recover before Blaque leaped over her and grabbed the knife out of Dwayne’s hand and hurled it at Salacious leg.
Dwayne howled in pain, and at the same time, Salacious gun went off.
Dwayne looked at Iris and seemed tempted to try to drag her out despite what was going on, but he didn’t; he wobbled out of the exit, holding his bleeding hand close to his chest to run away.
“How dare you?!” Blaque seethed, holding her side, glaring at her cousin. Blood started to seep down the side of her leather pants.
“Dare?!” Salacious reached down and pulled the knife from his leg.
The felonious assaults had happened so fast that Iris hadn’t seen either occur and was flustered because she didn’t want to escape out of the exit doors, worried she would bump into Dwayne again. Yet, she was still behind Blaque, and Iris felt the woman wasn’t through, causing her pain despite being shot.
“Fuck you, Salacious!” Yet, she laughed and winked at him.
Salacious tossed the blade behind him. “Fuck you, Blaque. Why the fuck are you fucking winking at me?”
Blaque emitted a wild, insane, shrill laughter. “Cause I just made you my bitch! And I’m going after her husband to make him a dead bitch.” She kissed the air at Iris. “We aren’t done with our dance.”
Iris was shocked by this statement and paralyzed in fear of remembering Salacious’s words about this woman. “Why?” she begged to know from this dark woman.
Blaque looked down at her wound and made a weird chuckling noise, childish, but winced, gripping her side more as blood seeped through her fingers. “Cause you can take a hit. And I don’t like what you’re doing to what’s mine.”
Forgetting this woman could kill her, Iris disagreed, “You pulled your punch, Blaque.
The woman’s obsidian eyes glistened in pleasure. “Next time-“
“There won’t be a next time,” Salacios cut his cousin off, still with his gun drawn. “You’re going to jail, Blaque. And then I will let Lethal handle you, just like he handled your Daddy.”
Raising her arms behind her head, Blaque asked, “You sure about that cousin? You really want to pick that side?”
Salacious responded, “It’s the side of right…FUCK!”
Blaque had thrown a small blade into Salacious wrist, disarming him.
As the gun slid across the floor right next to Iris’s foot, Blaque let out an odd childish shrill as if all of this was a game to her.
Blaque looked down at the gun and then up at Iris and smirked with another kiss to the air. Iris was too afraid to pick up the gun because the woman could move too fast and could fling another blade in Iris’s direction.
Turning to her cousin again, Blaque warned, “You tell my big brother I will finish what Daddy started because he chose to protect Shadow. He fucked me over, just like the rest of the family fucked my father over.”
She huffed and ran out of the door into the darkness. Salacious jumped over Iris, who now slid to the ground, and was utterly relieved she was alive after this strange meeting with Blaque Heart.
After yanking the knife from his wrist without flinching, Salacious ran after Blaque but only up to the exit doors, where he stopped and looked around for Blaque. Cursing viciously, he growled, “That fucking bitch.”
“You have a very odd family.”
Salacious extended his uninjured hand. “You have no idea. Are you ready to tell me where your boss is?”
Iris could see the man was bleeding in his calf and his hand, but he stood there like he had all the time in the world, and nothing was hurting him. Still dazed from being knocked on her ass and the slight pain on each side of her face, Iris wanted to sit there for a little bit more, but she knew she needed to get up and shake things off. “El’s not my boyfriend,” she responded, allowing him to help her reach her feet.
He took the silencer off his gun and hid it in an inner coat pocket just as two hospital security officers burst in on them through the stairwell doors with their weapons drawn. Salacious already had his badge to show them he was a legitimate police officer.
He spoke to them quietly, and someone gave him gauze for his hands.
When he was done speaking to the security personnel, he came over to her again.
She said, “You’re sending the police after her and Dwayne?”
Chuckling, Salicaous responded, “I did, but no one’s going to catch up with Blaque. I’ve seen her get out of the worst predicaments without any exits. She can slip through cracks like a cat since she was a babe. And if what she said was true, your precious husband is already having dinner with the devil’s mistress.”
Iris didn’t know how she should feel about that. A satisfied feeling shot through her, but a particular fear for the dark woman remained. “Why would she?”
“She’s doing you a favor. Whatever you did, you must’ve impressed her,” Salacious said.
“All I did was tell her she pulled her punch.”
“She doesn’t like to be called out on her bullshit. Let’s get to the precinct,” he urged her and led her into the lobby.
“How did you know I was in here?” she questioned.
“I didn’t. Hearts can feel Hearts,” Salacious responded with incredible frustration. “It’s a blessing and curse, but our intuition about each other and anyone else is a bitch.”
As soon as Iris neared the doors leading out the stairwell, she gasped, seeing Russell Wexford still in the lobby, and backed away. Next to Russell was Councilman Ernest Washington, which she recognized from reading and listening to the news.  “We can’t go out there. Please!” she begged, holding herself back from moving.
Salacious looked over her head and frowned, turning to her so she was partially blocked from anyone in the lobby seeing her. “What’s your fear in him? He will come after you for what your boss did.”
“It’s more than that!” she hissed in fear. “As I said, El didn’t do all that to Damien. I have proof.” She patted her pocket for her phone but panicked because she couldn’t find the device in her person.
Did she lose it? How was she supposed to prove El’s innocence or get back in touch with him?
Her phone was gone?
