A Psychopath, A Serial Killer and a Woman walk into a bar… which one walked out? #syllit #suspense #writing

Painting By John Lindley

A sly smile comes across my lips at the joke I just made. Now I don’t have a doctorate or even a Master’s and can say I can talk about this with an education in some kind of psychology, but I speak from the life lessons and from watching people around me. A lot of times you will hear me say, in my opinion. Really it’s all my opinion.

Now you will also ask, Sylvia, why do you write about something so eerie and dark. As a crime and suspense writer, i do have to do research on the dark side of human beings and every once in a while I like to come up for air and look around, but also I need to get a lot of things off of my mind and oh look, here’s a blog so I can do that.

Now if you don’t like to think about dark things, I suggest you stop reading right now and just wait for the next post to see what I will talk about.

Let’s break these three people down.

A Psychopath: Now I could have just said a crazy person, but crazy is maybe baby momma drama or even just extreme indecisiveness. Crazy people are not methodical or intelligent. When they do something, it’s out of randomness and spontaneous behaviors; they sometimes cannot determine right from wrong and craziness may come in spurts or at extreme times of stress or anger.

 A psychopath is another matter…

From Wikipedia:

Psychopathy is a personality disorder that has been …characterized by shallow emotions: (in particular, reduced fear), stress tolerance, lacking empathy, coldheartedness, lacking guilt, egocentricity, superficial charm, manipulativeness, irresponsibility, impulsivity and antisocial behaviors such as parasitic lifestyle and criminality. There is no consensus about the symptom criteria and there are ongoing debates regarding issues such as essential features, causes, and the possibility of treatment.

People who are psychopaths, in my opinion know right from wrong. They are ominously methodical. They are predators on an emotional, mental and even spiritual level. Out of the three listed at the top, in my opinion, these are the safest because the ones I have met aren’t there to kill you physically, but will tear your soul apart… for sport. Now there are some psychopaths that are physical predators, but these are the extreme.

What’s really scary is that a Psychopath can live “normally,” yet internally they are borderline close to wrecking havoc on their prey. People refer to their bosses at psychopaths, but, in my opinion, psychopaths don’t choose to be in charge. They choose to fool the “others” by setting themselves up in “lower” positions, while sitting back and taking out the higher level people in society, which the psychopath deems as fools or “sheep.” A psychopath may be a stalker or that person at work you would never suspected that would go postal that someone just pushed over the edge.

A Serial Killer, in my opinion, is a psychopath on another level. These are the physical predators literally enjoy taking the emotional, mental and spiritual away right before they take away the last thing. These are the ones that have envisioned death in so many different ways, it’s become a fantasy that MUST become real at some point. And the more they do it, not only the better they get, but the more extreme they must get in order to get the original high.

Lastly, a woman.

That’s really all that needs to be said.

My father raised me. I didn’t have much female influence around me. Even most of my best friends as a child after I was eleven were boys. I got along better with males than females. In high school, I found females to be backstabbing and petty. I think I had two good girlfriends and five good male friends. I kept my lives separate but enjoyed more of my male best friends than my female best friends.

I didn’t grasp what a real woman could do until I left the nest and went to college. I didn’t go to an on campus university because I wanted personal classroom  and I worked all the time, so I went to a college that had more older working adults than just people my age.

Here is where I learned what a real woman could do.

I learned that a woman could mentally, emotional and spiritually tear a soul apart so severe not only would that person not know they had been f*&^*D with until weeks after she had wrecked her havoc, but the pain could last for decades or even never be recovered. A woman’s tongue could be so wicked, a man would take four hundred hot lashes rather than hear what could come from her mouth. A woman had the power to make a man impotent by not only verbally, but physically as well. And then there are the ones that not only go after the heart and soul, they go after the body when they cannot destroy enough. They could take a life and not think twice about it or blink one bit in guilt.

A woman could be a psychopath and/or serial killer, which makes her ten times worse than her male counter parts of psychopaths and/or serial killers.

Women are awesome.

What’s so beautiful about the whole thing is that one kind word, one loving hug or one thoughtful thing could prevent her from becoming anything but nice.

So when I say, a psychopath, a serial killer and a woman walk into a bar. My money is on the woman.

Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned / Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned. “The Mourning Bride” (1697) by William Congreve

If you enjoyed this dark writing by me, maybe you’ll enjoy my first psychological suspense novel, Stone’s Revenge. It’s a great read and I think you’ll enjoy just how “dark” I can be.
