Getting down to the nitty gritty in the story…

Oh yeah, update on mysterious beau.

Been a little busy to date. both of us. The stars are not aligning our schedules. I’m busy when he’s free and he’s busy when I’m free.

But we’ve caught each other in passing, had awesome phone time (no phone sex yet, LOL) and when we see each other, there’s these back breaking hugs – the best thing evah!

So every 28 days, I get these massive cravings for chocolate (I know TMI) and the other night I tell him how I’m wanting some chocolate.

Since he works til 3 in the morning (or later), he called me at midnight. First, I thought to just talk, but instead he asked if he could come over. I said yeah. I knew I wasn’t going to be having a booty call and I hadn’t said anything about Aunt Dottie had moved in so he was going to be very disappointed if that was his intention.

He brought a thick piece of chocolate cake!

The sweetest! (The cake and him)

He hugged me and he kissed me and then said he had to get back to work.

Can you say WONDERFUL?!

That was the most awesomest. I haven’t been romanced in a very long time.

oh kay, off to the story!

Chapter 18.2

Trying to inch over to the window in her platform shoes, over the mess made in her room, was more difficult than she thought. “What are you talking about?!”

He must have seen her intentions and grabbed her arm to keep her in place. She was too far from the window to make an alert if she did yell. Hope was waning and she knew fighting now would be useless. It would just drive him to use that hammer sooner on her head.

Yanking her to him, he hissed, “You aren’t smarter and you certainly aren’t your momma, Key!”

“Let me go, Vick. If you want the money, I’ll give it to you. I’ll give you every dime.”

“Oh I’ll get the money, sister, but you won’t be around when I get it.”

She tried to wring her arm away, but he was strong. He started to pull her out of the bedroom, but she held on the wall. He took the hammer and smashed her fingers and she howled in pain, letting go the wall.

Vick only laughed. “Momma was evil as hell – selfish and deranged.” He cackled insanely. “Definitely deranged because all she wanted was a boy that looked like Daddy. She would have done anything for that. Anything, but she never got that. All she got was me and she hated me for that. Hated me to the bone!”

He dragged her to the hallway and hurled her to the floor. Trying to get up and then even screaming, Vick’s body covered hers and his hand covered her mouth. “But she knew how to use people. I learned that from her. Use them to her advantage. I watched her master the skill of making people do what she wanted them to do – not with force, but with guilt and blackmail. Yes, she was smart, but like I said, no one is as smart as me.”

Elena pleaded a groan.

“You’re too nice, Elena. Momma purposely raised you so naïve you’d never see real evil or know she bred me to do anything possible to keep the secrets of this house. I have to do this. You have to understand you must never ever know. Momma drove Daddy to kill himself just to keep the secret and now I have to kill you to make sure no one will ever know. Lori, bring it,” he ordered keeping his voice low. “Hurry up!”

Lori came over with a bottle of Rocuronium Bromide. Elena’s eyes flashed in recognition and rage. This drug was used as a muscle relaxant in surgery, but if she wasn’t put on a machine she’d die in less than half an hour.

“Is it gonna kill her?” Vick said as Lori filled the needle.

“Yes!” Lori assured him smiling triumphantly. “Her goodie too-shoe ass will be dead soon. This will make all her muscles go weak and she won’t be able to take in air.”

“But wait! The fire!” he said stopping Lori’s arm with his free hand. “We want it to look like she died of smoke inhalation. We gotta get rid of the house!” He sounded very determined. “I don’t want nothing and I mean nothing to be found or dug up on this property for a very long time.”

Disappointedly, Lori stopped with filling up the syringe. “I’ll tell the driver she’s decided to take her own car and you take care of her. After I get rid of the driver, we’ll get the house ready to be burned.”

“Now that we got the papers, we don’t need her or this damn house,” Vick said and leaned over to kiss Lori. “I’ll knock her out and put her body up the hole where we found the papers. It’ll look like she got trapped and couldn’t get out.”

Lori snickered, capped the syringe before putting it in her pocket. “I’ll be back, my love.”

Vick looked down at his sister. “You got lots of questions, don’t you, Key?”

Elena nodded sincerely stopping her fight, hoping he’d answer what she was dying to know.

“All my life, I had to live with looking at your face. The face I shoulda had – Daddy’s face. Momma cursed and hated me every day for what I wasn’t and just to get in her good graces I had to do the unthinkable for her. Do you know what that was?” He reached over and picked up the hammer with his free hand.

She shook her head wildly and sobbed, but her voice was muffled under his hand.

“I had to take each one of those babies she had and make them disappear. That’s why Daddy killed himself. He found out about the baby girl’s buried in the backyard. Momma had one – and that was you, but she wasn’t going to have another one. She wanted a boy. A boy with Daddy’s face, but she kept having girls – five little girls.” He looked strained and very tired. “Daddy tried to stop her and he loved her too much to turn her in. He told me never to help her, but I wanted her to love me, Key. Like she loved him – like she loved you. I had to help her. I had to kill them and bury them.” He looked down at the hammer. “I’d take them as soon as she had them. Right there in that room, Key. In her bed. Sometimes lying next to Daddy trying to be quiet as a mouse or in that bathtub. I’d wrap the babies in a blanket to quiet it and then take it right here in the hallway. Just like I got you now.” He raised the hammer. “I’d have the hammer in my back pocket and just when I saw their eyes open and look up at me.”

The world went dark as pain shot through her skull like a bullet. Elena knew she would never see the light of day.
