Hope is Love is unlike any book I’ve read recently. The events that occurred, some of them I can totally see happening in life. The situations are gritty and dark sometimes, as are the characters. But there’s also an underlying message of hope, change, and the power of love. Hope, Or Jona has been on the streets for so long. She’s used to that life, she knows not much else. She has to scrounge for food and things, she finds the best places she can for being warm and safe. Never did she imagine the situation she finds herself in, and how it changes things. James is a victim of a crime, and it changes his life as well. He can’t remember much of anything, and the person he trusts the most at the time is Jona. In a normal instance, he would never have associated himself with her, but fate throws these two completely opposite people together where they form a bond. I hate how Jona is treated, it makes me angry and sad, but I know these things do happen. Some of the people in this story make me want to slap them for their horrid attitudes. James seems to have dark secrets in his history, but he has the chance to wipe the slate clean and become a better man. There’s a mix of suspense and so much more in this book. I really enjoyed it and was glad to have the chance to get a copy of it. Based on how much this story moved me, I want to check out more titles from author Sylvia Hubbard. I highly recommend this book. It will change the way you think. The characters stayed in my mind long after I finished the book. What an experience!
