Author Answer:
I don’t find them, they find me.
I equate my stories like love. A good love is something you didn’t go looking for they found you.
I know this sounds weird, but that’s how I can simply answer it, that would be.
Now the long answer to this is…
I connect what doesn’t belong.
That doesn’t make a lick of sense, but I’ll elongate.
I see a really difficult problem or situation and then I find another one and like a puzzle I try to piece them together. Sooner or later, I’m going to find a way to stick these puzzle pieces together no matter how ridiculous they sound and then I focus on the believability factor.
See I find odd things to fit together, but even if they do fit together, nothing flies unless I can get the reader to believe this big old complicated puzzle.
That’s always the hardest, but in the end with a great mix of characters, I find a way to get the story flying and fun.
I hope this answers your question.
