This note is created to bring fun and feedback for my readers.
We’re on deadline to start by July 2010 and finish by September 2010. We want to get the premise of the story up first, so we have to get some things out on the table first, but I would love for you to give me the premise.
The story will (must) take place in Detroit in present day and be suspense-romance (someone will fall in love and someone will die). If you’re not familiar with the city, then just think about any urban city setting. (Detroit has whatever you can imagine).
These will most likely be the only constraints or rules. I choose this because I’m a CONTEMPORARY WRITER. I don’t do sci-fi and nor am I a historical person. Plus, I write what I know and I know Detroit. LOL.
If you aren’t familiar with my stories, please go to:
http://sylviahubbard.com/books and look at the slide show.
You’ll get a feel for my stories and won’t suggest things we’re already done.
The three things we’re starting with is:
- Female protagonist
- Male protagonist
- Antagonist (can either be male or female.)
For characters, be as specific as possible. I’ve written I/R so don’t be afraid to venture into culture, color or race. I would like the female to be black though since like I said before, I write what I know. Plus, (and I know this is going to make some people mad, but) I don’t write skinny women (below a ten). I write average size woman, because I write what I know. LOL
Yet, you can describe her however you like. Also give me professions and even where they live, how they grew up and characteristics.
BOTH PROTAGONISTS MUST HAVE FLAWS, ADDICTIONS OR SOMETHING PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH THEM.
That challenges me as a writer.
The most favored top three characters (of each category) will be listed on the site for voting by June and then the winner will receive a very special e-book collection mailed to them.
If you’d like to suggest a plot, please do so at this time in this note/comment
The most favored top three plots will be listed on the site for voting by June and then the winner will receive a very special e-book collection mailed to them.
Like I said in the beginning, I will handle character, and theme (meaning once the voting has ended and I begin the writing, I’ll let you know where this is going.)
Choosing your own adventure isn’t just about giving you the power to create the characters and plot for me, but also, this is going to be very different where you will be able to choose how you want the story to go.
The adventure will start precisely in August where the set up will be on my blog at: http://sylviahubbard.com/blog.
Now this won’t be a full length novel. Most likely we’ll start with a short story with twists and turns you’ll enjoy and also be able to choose.
I’m excited about this, and so will you be.
Thanks for participating and if you haven’t subscribed to my blog, make sure you jump over there now and get your name on the lists.
Don’t forget: Voting will take place in June and then updates will follow from there.
Please share this with other readers and writers who just want to add to the comments and notes to suggest a plot or characters.
(Pretend Mission Impossible Theme Music is playing right here and Peter Graves voice over starts to speak)
SO YOUR MISSION IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IS TO:
- SUGGEST CHARACTERS TO WRITE ABOUT (see above for specifics)
- SUGGEST A PLOT and/or SITUATION YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE IN THE STORY
- SHARE WITH FAMILY, FRIENDS, READERS AND OTHER WRITERS TO GET THEM TO HELP OUT WITH SUGGESTIONS OR TO MAKE THE STORY EXCITING.
Use the comment section below to complete either mission one and/or two and don’t forget number 3! Thanks!
Ps: This will run bi-weekly as a reminder, so if you see again and you’ve done 1 & 2, just do 3 again by forwarding this message out to others. Thanks again.
PS: (update of this post on 6/7/10) comments were closed off due to a breaking and entering of my house and my stolen laptop for the set up of this story. Please check the work in progress feed if you are seeing this as of this date to see what’s up and what’s happening or subscribe for updates.
